Board Tomorrow? Come to I’m Board IV

So this is my #2 Pencil Skateboard Deck from last years IM BOARD 3 show, which I gotta say was the best show yet and is gonna be hard to beat this year. Full Skate Demo, Break Dance Crews, and Rad Skate decks. I would love to show you my submission for this year’s show which is tomorrow during Art Walk, but my pics just wouldn’t do it justice so your gonna have to come see for yourself. I will tell you however, that it is somewhat along the same lines as the #2 Pencil from last year in that its not about the design on the deck but using the decks shape to make something else. Having designed decks for Flatline Skateboards for 7 years I’ve done my fair share of graphics on the board printing, and this is a little more challenging for me and a great opportunity for humor, which I love.

Im Really Diggin these dudes from West Palm Beach, Fl. Kinda Reminds of the old Weezer we all love. Hope to hear more good things from these guys and to check out the whole album ASTRO COAST as well. Pitchfork gave them a 8.2 so I think I might have to pick this one up. Although it might have to be digital since our beloved indie record store CD Connection is gone, and you know Best Buy wont have this shit. What can I say, I’m a slave to good album packaging. On a side note, the rumor is they recorded this in a dorm room at University of Florida which is a plus for me! Go Gators and Gainesville Music. – TRON

LOGO Loungin – An Oldie Makes The Cut

So you may not be able to teach old dogs new tricks, but sometimes people will adopt one! I did this logo way back in 2005 when I was working for a company out at the beach that I, for sanity reasons, will leave unnamed. It’s kinda funny though cause this is not the exact one they went with. The one on the website has a lowercase t which to me doesn’t make the best of sense but hey, It’s what they wanted. But that still doesn’t mean I cant show this one! – TRON

Thanks to the many comments left on my post www.youthoughtwewouldntnotce.com and awesome hate emails that you guys must have sent him, he has either taken his site down or carbon made jacked him for violating the terms of service. So thanks everyone. Even though he doesn’t think he did anything wrong as in comment #5.

I would say we were flattered John but seriously… the Mars Volta deserves better than this. What happened, could you not find a supporting act so you could finish the forehead? Just because your in the UK doesn’t mean we wont find you. Next time you rip someone off, you might want to stay away from graphics where the concept is all hand done type and the type is specific information… kinda makes it hard to have a decent outcome. And for god sakes leave good bands like The Mars Volta outta your crappy design rip offs and try something more in the POP Genre.

Anyone interested in Hiring Jonathan Harper to terribly rip off someones design for you he is available for freelance… you can contact the little bastard here and see the rest of his rip offs on these wonderful websites!

FREINDSPIRATION – Joanna@TedPerez Card

Finally got to see my good friend and fellow Designer @jonani tonight over dinner drinks while she is home for the holidays. Joanna works at Ted Perez and Associates in Los Angeles as a Designer and Artist. Aside for the Earthquakes, Fires, and Traffic… Im truly jealous of her job she has out there. They do what we all dream of which is designing and building websites for Movies and Video Games ect. When she handed me this Super thick stock, all type, letter pressed business card I nearly shit myself. It is probably the most beautiful all type business card I have ever seen. So majestic in all its simplicity. Kudos to Alex Rinker for the design on this one, Im feeling it!

Evergreen Terrace – New Album Almost Home

Although I was super bummed I missed the CD Release show this past weekend, Im pretty amped to hear the new album. From what I have heard so far I’m sure I will dig it. I think the album art for this record “almost home” might be my favorite from them so far, though I was a pretty big fan of the writers block packaging and the Wolf Biker cover since I happen to know Shawn Thurston who painted it. I got to see the big ass original at an art show in St. Augustine and I gotta say I like it better without the type on there, which is rare, but Shawn is an amazing painter and illustrator.

If Your Not First your Last! Poster Show Recap

Reese Bobby said it best… if your not first your last! haha. Well that’s just stupid son, you can be second, third, fourth, hell you can even be fifth! I Just wanna say thank you to everyone who voted my poster #1 at the show, I didn’t even know it was gonna be a contest? But in all seriousness, had varick not done three awesome posters and split his own votes into two, we all know he would have took the prize… and then gracefully declined just like he did with his second and third place. We really couldn’t have a greater guy running the show these days.
