The new “I Was a Teenage Anarchist – EP” is out a bit early but I am so stoked. The four song EP includes the tracks “I was a teenage anarchist”, “Rapid Decompression”, “One By One”, and Bitter Divisions”. I have always liked to think of Against Me! as our Generations mix of the Ramones and a little bit of Irish Whiskey and Rapid Decompression definitely helps my case. I love the Black and White live videos. If you have ever been to an Against Me show at Common Grounds in Gainesville that is pretty much dead on. Your Sweating even if your standing still. Keep it up guys, I can’t wait till the full album release. – TRON

Im Really Diggin these dudes from West Palm Beach, Fl. Kinda Reminds of the old Weezer we all love. Hope to hear more good things from these guys and to check out the whole album ASTRO COAST as well. Pitchfork gave them a 8.2 so I think I might have to pick this one up. Although it might have to be digital since our beloved indie record store CD Connection is gone, and you know Best Buy wont have this shit. What can I say, I’m a slave to good album packaging. On a side note, the rumor is they recorded this in a dorm room at University of Florida which is a plus for me! Go Gators and Gainesville Music. – TRON

Evergreen Terrace – New Album Almost Home

Although I was super bummed I missed the CD Release show this past weekend, Im pretty amped to hear the new album. From what I have heard so far I’m sure I will dig it. I think the album art for this record “almost home” might be my favorite from them so far, though I was a pretty big fan of the writers block packaging and the Wolf Biker cover since I happen to know Shawn Thurston who painted it. I got to see the big ass original at an art show in St. Augustine and I gotta say I like it better without the type on there, which is rare, but Shawn is an amazing painter and illustrator.

Modest Mouse – King Rat (Heath Ledger)

The King Rat video was directed by Heath Ledger, co-directed and illustrated by Daniel Auber with lead animation by Norris Houk, animation by Jade Taglioli and produced by Sara Cline of THE MASSES. In January of 2007, while visiting his homeland of Australia, Heath Ledger presented Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse with an idea to direct a video for their yet-to-be-released song ‘King Rat’. Heath’s vision, brave and unapologetic in its nature, would marry his love of bold and original music with his impassioned stance against the illegal commercial whale hunts taking place of the coast of Australia each year. Always one to operate from his heart and take a stand for what he cared deeply about, Heath’s intention was to raise awareness on modern whaling practices through a potent visual piece without having to say a word. It was his way to let the story, in its candid reversal, speak for itself.

So my Lovely Wife Marisa and I went to see Jenny Lewis at FREEBIRD LIVE in Jax Beach, I went into it thinking I was just along for the ride and came out of it with a childhood crush and a deep musical love for everything Jenny Lewis puts her voice on. I was giving a few friends I saw there a super hard time because I just though this was a chick band and they were just there trying to pic up chicks but after the show was over I Immediately apologized. Everything from the amazing music, vintage sea foam guitars and amazing charm made this a show I will never forget. We Just happened to get a sweet spot on the side of the stage and when she came over and Practically sang to Marisa and Emily, I couldn’t even look directly at her because the perfect mix of Cute and Sexy was too much to take in. I owe it all to my Marisa for Opening my eyes and ears once again… which is why she is my wife.
Hooray, Hooray, You are my silver Lining… and please don’t ever go. Thanks Boo!
